Ragged Band Border Morris
When Ragged Band first formed, we tried the name of The Dark Side Ragged Border Morris, which seemed too long. As we performed and were introduced we became known as Ragged Band Border Morris - (Ragged Band). The team decided to keep The Dark Side for performances other than just morris dancing.
Now under the guise of THE DARK SIDE, we join occasionally with friends to perform a more theatrical spectacle. The Dark Side have performed The Green Man Cycle which is a celebration of the changing seasonsand the birth, death and rebirth of the Green Man, a northern hemisphere mythical figure of growthand rebirth. We have performed this at The Abbey Festival, The National Folk Festival, the Schonell Theatre and at the Woodford Folk Festival.
We also perform fire dances when conditions allow and our variation of the Abbots Bromley Horn Dance. We have done so at the Woodford Festival, the Planting Festival, and at Neurum Creek Folk Weekend.
